Salem Collector surprises teachers

District Collector Rohini P. Bhajibhakare sprang a surprise when she paid a visit to the Municipal Girls Higher Secondary School, Manakkad, and wished the teachers in connection with the Teachers Day on Tuesday.

Ms. Rohini visited the classes in progress and presented bouquet, sweets and gifts to the teachers.

In a brief talk, the Collector underlined the importance of higher education for the overall empowerment of women.

At the request of the teachers, the Collector posed for a group photo, before leaving the campus.

Ms. Rohini in a message said that teachers were the real life super-heroes for thousands of students. “I thank you on behalf of all the students of the district for rendering yeoman service for the overall development of the youngsters”, she said.

The message was passed on to more than 11,000 teachers working in the government schools across the district through e-mail and WhatsApp.
